Indian Premier League IPL 2011 Session 4 Auction , Bidding Bangladesh Cricket:
The Auction for IPL session 4 has just ended. The auction was finished with a great enthusiasm, bidding and ofcourse a lot of money. The Indian Premier League will start from April this year. The Auction was held among 10 teams. They are Bangalore, Deccan Chargers, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Punjab, Rajasthan, Mumbai, Kochi and Pune. Kochi and Pune are the two teams have been participating in IPL for the first time. The auction continued for 2 days from 8-9 January 2011 in a hotel at Bangalore, India. The Satellite Channel “Set Max” telecasted the Auction program live. There were certainly some ups and downs in this auction too. A lot of drama, confusion, surprise, tragedy, strategy was behind in this auction. The franchisers wanted to take the best players in their team with their budget. Some players are reining stained in their previous team. Some have changed the team by bidding and some new players have been added too. Gautam Gambhir was the costliest among all. He was sold to KKR for $2.4 million. That is huge and a bit unexpected. The destroyer Yusuf Pathan was also sold to KKR with $2.1 million. They have won the jackpot for sure. Out of 10 costliest players the first 7 players are from Indian. The franchisers had a favorable look on Indian Players in this session of IPL and that is why the league is named IPL – Indian Premier League.
Bangladesh Players in IPL 2011 Session 4:
Now let’s talk about our cricketer. As Likely, the Bangladesh Captain Sakib Al Hasan, the no.1 all rounder was sold to KKR for $4, 25, 0000 for next two sessions. This is about 3 crores BDT in Bangladesh Currency. His base price was $2, 00,000. This is something for Bangladesh Cricket fans to be cheered. His fellow friend, Tamim Iqbal was the first man who let him informed about his entrance in IPL with phone call. In his instant respond he told “I expected more in the last session. Today when I was not getting any calls, I thought I am going to lost it this time too”. He also mentioned, The KKR coach Dev Whatmore, the former Bangladesh Coach was interested to buy about him. The coach came to Bangladesh in last year’s November and then a conversation took place between Sakib and Dev.
Well, Sakib is the 4th player, who going to play in IPL. Before him Ashraful, Razzak and Mashrafee played for different teams in different sessions o IPL. Ashraful and Razzak played respectively for Mumbai Indians and Bangalore Royals in IPL session 2. Mashrafee played for KKR in the last session. Masrafee was sold $6,00,000 to KKR.
Why no team took Tamim Iqbal in IPL 2011?
This has become a common question from all Bangladeshi IPL fans and rightly so. No team even bid with his base price. The way Tamim spent a great year of 2010; he deserved a place in an IPL team. He is naturally aggressive player and IPL suits his batting style. But sadly no one bid for him. Some predicted reasons are:
1. Tamim’s recent wrist surgery: Personally I don’t think it’s a problem at all. After coming back from surgery he played a superb knock against Zimbabwe with a faster 90 odd runs innings.
2. He had a better year of 2010 in Tests: He had a wonderful test year of 2010, this does not mean he is unable to play T20. He is naturally a great striker of cricket ball. Just a perfect opening batsman for T20.
3. Bangladesh’s busy schedule in April; Some have claimed that Bangladesh will be busy with international cricket in April, that is why the team will not get Tamim in all of their matches. If this is true, then why KKR bought Sakib? He is also from Bangladesh.
I don’t know why will answer all that questions. Nevertheless, I only can Say Best of Luck Tamim for the Next Year.
